Getting paid for orders placed using Shop Pay Installments

After you've captured the payment for an order placed using Shop Pay Installments, you'll receive full payment for your order within 1 to 3 business days, excluding the fee incurred for using Shop Pay Installments. Your Shop Pay Installments payouts are included with Shopify Payments payouts. Affirm is responsible for collecting payments from your customers, and you aren't at risk if your customers stop making payments.

Shop Pay Installments payouts adhere to the same payout schedule that you set for Shopify Payments payouts. If a payout is made over the weekend or on a holiday, then a pending state might appear on your bank statement until the next business day. Learn more about Shopify Payments payouts schedules.

View Shop Pay Installments transactions in your Shopify Payments payouts

You receive payment for orders paid using Shop Pay Installments and Shopify Payments transactions in the same payout. To view transactions that were made using Shop Pay Installments, you can filter the transactions on your payouts. Orders captured with Shop Pay Installments that are pending payout won't be visible on the Transactions page until after the order is paid out.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Finance.

  2. Click Payouts.

  3. Click View order transactions.

  4. Click the searchfilter icon.

  5. Click Add filter.

  6. Select the Payment method filter.

  7. Select Shop Pay Installments.

Processing rates and fees for Shop Pay Installments

There's no cost to activate Shop Pay Installments on your store. When a customer uses Shop Pay Installments, you're charged a higher transaction fee because it also includes the standard Shopify Payments processing fee.

You can access information about the specific rates and fees applicable to Shop Pay and Shop Pay Installments from your Shopify admin.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.

  2. In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.

  3. Click Manage payment methods.

  4. Click View payment rates to view the rates that apply to different payment methods, including Shop Pay Installments.

Refunding Shop Pay Installments orders

Shop Pay Installments orders are refunded through Shopify Payments. If you issue a refund on an order that was paid for using Shop Pay Installments, then the refunded amount is deducted from your next available payout. Learn more about processing refunds with Shopify Payments.

Managing payment disputes with Shop Pay Installments

If a customer opens a dispute with Affirm on a Shop Pay Installments transaction, then you receive a notification in your Shopify admin and an email stating that a dispute has been opened.

You can manage the dispute process from your Shopify admin by clicking Open response on the admin notification or the email that you receive. Shop Pay Installments disputes are managed in the same way that Shopify Payments disputes are managed. Learn more about disputes with Shopify Payments.

Deactivate Shop Pay Installments

If you no longer want to offer Shop Pay Installments to your customers, then you can deactivate the payment method.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.

  2. In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.

  3. In the Shop section, turn off Shop Pay Installments, and then click Save.
