Make a custom sale in Shopify POS
You can use a custom sale item to enter any additional price for a transaction. Custom sale items are ideal for selling an item that you haven't already added as a product in your Shopify admin or Shopify POS as a permanently available item.
Custom sale items can include small add-ons or surcharges for unique circumstances. For example, if you sell paintings, but your in-person customer wants to purchase the display easel as well as the painting itself, then you can sell the customer the painting as per usual, and add the agreed-upon cost of the easel as a custom sale item.
Considerations for custom sales in Shopify POS
- You can create a custom sale from the Add custom sale tile that displays in your Shopify POS smart grid. You can also add a custom sale item as a replacement item during an exchange.
- Custom sale items don't display in the same way as a regular product sale does in a report. Learn more about custom sales in sales reports.
Create a custom sale in Shopify POS
- From your Shopify POS smart grid, tap the Add custom sale tile.
- Enter an optional title for the sale and the sale price. You can also adjust quantities or if the item is taxed.
- Tap Add to cart to continue with the transaction.
