Apprentice Product Manager - Spring 2027
Remote - Americas
About Shopify
Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.
This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.
About you
Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.
Before you apply, consider if you can:
Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
Excel by seeking professional and personal hyper growth
Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
Bring critical thought and opinion
Use AI tools reflexively as part of your fundamental workflow
Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
Work digital-first for your daily work
Shopify’s Apprentice Product Manager (APM) role is a paid 12 month position, made up of two team placements, designed to develop early product talent into future product leaders.
As an APM, you’ll learn how products are developed at Shopify, supported by a dedicated mentor, a working community of peers, and a comprehensive learning program. You’ll work alongside some of the best product managers in the industry on products that will have a real impact on our merchants.
The Opportunity:
Join a high performing Product team that will constantly push you to grow and improve. Real talk - get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Own real product problems for real merchants
Learn Shopify's product management craft across two different team placements, each with a Senior Product Manager to guide and coach you
Use AI daily for prototyping, research, analysis, and building
Participants are expected to learn rapidly, adapt, and achieve impactful results for our merchants within 12 months. If you prefer detailed direction and a clear roadmap to follow, this role probably isn’t for you.
Qualifications
We are looking for:
A history of creating something that didn't exist before and seeing it through
Comfort operating without a playbook. Figuring out what needs to happen and making it happen.
A track record of doing more with less, stretching limited time, resources, or experience further than expected
Genuine interest in the audience affected by what you build: merchants, buyers, or communities
A pattern of picking up new skills, domains, or responsibilities quickly
Hands-on experience making things with AI. We're looking for people who've used AI to do real work, not people who've listed it on a resume.
Legally eligible to work from the locations listed by the chosen program start date

Mastery-matched compensation.
~Mastery
At Shopify, getting better at your craft and increasing your impact is how you grow. Twice a year, we assess both in our ~Mastery cycle, Shopify’s performance review. Achieving higher ~Mastery is a promotion, and when you earn a promotion your total rewards grow with it. Crafter and manager are equal paths, so you can pursue excellence in the craft you’re best at.
Total Rewards
With Flex Comp, your Rewards Wallet gives you agency over your compensation mix. Adjust your mix of cash, restricted share units, and stock options (including programs like Long-Term Equity)* to where it makes sense for you, and mix it up anytime as life and priorities change. Buying a house? Want more skin in the game? Just experimenting? It’s your call.
* Flex Comp program offerings vary based on location, role, and employment type. Full details are set out in our Terms & Conditions and related plan documents.
Room for the rest of your life.
Flexible work, remote by design
A flexible vacation policy means most Shopifolk can take the vacation days they feel they need to recharge.
If a change of everyday scenery is more your jam, Destination 90 means you can work from (almost) anywhere in the world for 90 days of the year.
Your setup
Your battlestation is your home base. Request the desk, chair, and AV gear you need to get shit done.
Benefits
You need ‘em, we’ve got ‘em. Our health and welfare benefits may include health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance depending on your country. If you’re in a country without a package, you'll receive a monthly allowance. We also offer mental health support for you and your dependents, including immediate and confidential services like counseling and coaching sessions.
Family support
We offer fertility benefits globally, along with paid parental leave to welcome a new family member.
The Life Story is how we understand the themes of your career journey so far, human to human. What you’ve learned, and how you made a difference. Show us the trophies and the bruises: the problems you’ve solved, the challenges you encountered, the decisions you made, and the lessons you learned along the way.
We’re looking for world-class crafters. Crafters obsessed with pursuing excellence in their field. Our craft assessment looks at your personal journey toward mastery, and your potential to go broader and deeper in novel ways.
You’ll start with an online assessment, followed by a craft assessment. Show us what you do best, and how you do it. Shopify’s bar is high. Let your skills do the talking.
Building on your craft assessment, these interviews dive deeper into your experience and technical aptitude. Depending on the role, this may include technical deep dives focusing on projects you've previously worked on, collaborating in a design critique, exploring a dataset using SQL, or taking the lead on solving a problem with your interviewer as your co-pilot.
